Two Jolly Good Fellows…Pakistan and India!

The flooding that swept across Pakistan in recent days is surely one that no one would pray for and an indicator that the global warming is what our leaders across the world need to take seriously. And to leaders of developing countries mostly in Africa, they need to arise too, to find a solution to this common problem that plagues the human race. I do not believe that so much should be dispensed towards clamoring or arguing about who puts what on the table and who does not, yet I do not also disagree that nations that emit more shouldn’t put more on the table. But we need to work together in striking a balance to forge a pattern to ameliorate the sufferings of many across the world as a result of global warming; because when the eyes cry even the nose runs.

The tension that had raged between the two nuclear neighbors for years had been a source of concern to the international community but all that seem to have been tossed behind between both countries all in the name of giving a helping hand in the evil days. This is a very welcome development, and one one could only hope turns out to be a point of reflection in days ahead when the two leaders of both countries are seated at the table dialoguing about the fate of both nations.

The Pakistani flooding left in its paths sorrows and destruction. But in a bittersweet fashion it left behind what I see as blessings and grains(this is not to in anyway insult the sensibility of those who suffered loss please) by means of the hand extended by India to its nuclear neighbor Pakistan and the acceptance of the $5m given it by the Indian government. I pray and hope this does turn out to be a springboard to permanent peace at the border of the Asian brothers and restore the strained diplomatic tier between the two nations.

Third Term—the Obasanjo Syndrome…ambition and the place of God

I recently read a post in a blog (multibrand.blogspot.com) concerning President SBY of Indonesia ambition to run for a third term despite the constitutional provision for a two term period and it seems just like yesterday to me. Obviously the Obasanjo’s Syndrome seem to be creeping into the hearts of leaders abroad wanting to tow the third term line by all means to perpetuate in power. Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo was in power from 1999-2007 and at the tail end of his administration it was obvious the old man already brought in a new lexicon into the Nigerian polity by sponsoring groups to chant and sing his praises that he alone can run the country and he alone is the messiah that can do it all.

Cry…The prayer and meditations of the heart of Kissinger the son of Akugue

How long, how long Lord?
The cry of your beloved son!
My spirit loathes my whole state.
Drunkenness is like dross—
the dissipation of strength and dignity.

Between You and me, I feel as though a bridge exist.
May the bridge collapse and not be rebuilt,
may its ruins pulverize and its ground becomes Synergy!
May Synergy become a memorial and a name to You forever.
Where are You, From Everlasting to Everlasting?
I am searching!

Paradox of Glory

Awkwardly I stood lolled in the valley of hopelessness,
I gazed to the top of the mountain,
whose peak is in the heavens;
my heart fainted within me,
distastes filled my tongue,
my belly knotted and all hopes vaporized.
Desires became like cold water flowing from a tarn,
my heart melted within me, my spirit shrank, then hope died.

Faith, Culture—Action

No child takes up a culture that is outside of the medium or environment in which it is born into; it grows to come to know that that is the way of life on this side of the divide. Whether it now chooses to live by it when it comes of age of knowing to choose between the one and the other is another thing entirely. If anything is wrong with the culture of a people, it certainly should be dealt with and not destroy that culture by imposing another on the people because that is their life. If the culture of a people is perceived to harbor some impurities such that the child has grown these impurities, do you totally jettison that culture or do you separate the dross from the silver? Therefore since the culture of a people dictates their actions, I believe if almost everyone of that tribe thus behaves in accordance with the impurities in their culture, the ills of that culture should be dealt with and not ostracize such people or kill their culture else you murder them in cold blood. The culture of a people is their life and it is like the software, or rather the operating system that the hardware computer requires to function.

THE SEPARATIST POLITICS

Up till now, the Constitution of Nigeria allows Nigerians seeking elective positions to be a member of a political party. I hoped the Independent Candidacy option would be allowed but unfortunately, before she was in labor the baby came forth and it was a stillborn. Had the motion scaled through, the independent candidacy would surely have had its own challenges because it would have taken time before it eventually matures to be able to stand against a party with all machineries during elections of maybe not.

Now, until this moment, we(the Nigerian people) have practiced and acted ‘let them do their thing’ and whatever or whoever the parties present to the public is what the public votes for. Since the political parties have this huge power and influence, even to prevent genuine people from coming into power, why don’t we, since we want a better Nigeria invade and infiltrate the political parties by being members so that the good people might dominate these political parties and help to elect those with what it takes to move this nation forward. But instead we just, ok maybe because of the long inflicted oppression on the people; I mean we are a bunch of Separatists.

Military Rules of Engagement in Peace Mission

To say that the rules of engagement in every peacekeeping mission be reviewed is an understatement. A military peacekeeping mission is a combat operation by itself; therefore I see no reason why the UN would send soldiers to volatile regions against volatile militias or rebels while keeping the noncombatant policy knowing that they would be attacked by the fighting forces. We all witnessed the shameful slaughtering of the AU/UN joint forces in Darfur some years back; how soldiers hand guns in their hands, with their eyes opened while they were being attacked by rebels yet they could not fight back because of the policy that puts them in bondage.

Deceit

Tears drop down from your eyes to see me
waste away under your bosom; tears of lies.
Before me you say, lies a green pasture,
therefore I should depart from you.

You say your beauty has faded away,
you array yourself with tattered rags,
you for days refuse to have a bath;
therefore you stink!

Appeal for Responsibilities Taking

A few flutter of a butterfly can transform you, your environment, Nigeria, into what you want it to be. Your little drop, my little drop, our little drops can make an ocean. We need not be a docile people and society, despite all we have gone through; let us arise and be responsible for this nation and our collective destiny.

I believe in the New Nigeria and if you do too, then we cannot fold our hands thinking it would just come without us working for or towards achieving it. Let us consider what sought of society we live in this day and what hope lies in it for our children, siblings, and even the unborn; if any such hope does exist. If nothing is done to drastically change things right now, try to visualize the future and see if there would be any legacy, hope, left behind for those coming after us; the judgment is for you as an individual to make.

Abuja is under siege!

Perhaps my imaginations are sensual,
Maybe I’m wrong, swimming in the pool of deception—
Pictures and images of the future blurred,
And my visions totally blinded indeed.
But I indeed see in the house of explosives, a flicker of spark;
A man has stolen a cub from a pride,
He has put in his bosom fire!

He sleeps on his bed with a cub fast becoming a young lion,
In a plate, on a table, together they dine.
He displays folly in the midst of his friends,
Taking pride in the cub from the pride;
They cheer him on…
He feels so, so on top of the world
Not knowing he died long ago.

Like Jonah in the Fish hotel,
He soon would be in Lion hotel as paste,
He’s created for his family a slippery ground
For the beasts and giants to devour.

Man's Depravity

It just occured to me by the Spring of God in me; the frailty of man in view of his depravity. By means of a harlot, indeed a man is reduced to a crust of bread. Whatever a man lusts after or idolises is a god in that person's life and we know no God is greater than the God of the heaven and the earth. If a man lusts or idolises a billion dollars such that he gets it by all means; he only has succeeded in reducing himself and his worth because if the idol in own's heart could give him a billion dollars, God who is greater than all idols(gods) intends to give more and better. The enemy(idol) has only succeeded in making one to lose the greater and be blinded towards the greatest, enduring and best option that comes from above.
