THE SEPARATIST POLITICS

Up till now, the Constitution of Nigeria allows Nigerians seeking elective positions to be a member of a political party. I hoped the Independent Candidacy option would be allowed but unfortunately, before she was in labor the baby came forth and it was a stillborn. Had the motion scaled through, the independent candidacy would surely have had its own challenges because it would have taken time before it eventually matures to be able to stand against a party with all machineries during elections of maybe not.

Now, until this moment, we(the Nigerian people) have practiced and acted ‘let them do their thing’ and whatever or whoever the parties present to the public is what the public votes for. Since the political parties have this huge power and influence, even to prevent genuine people from coming into power, why don’t we, since we want a better Nigeria invade and infiltrate the political parties by being members so that the good people might dominate these political parties and help to elect those with what it takes to move this nation forward. But instead we just, ok maybe because of the long inflicted oppression on the people; I mean we are a bunch of Separatists.

God forbid we all continue with the same strategy of criticizing, commenting and agitating without taking an active plunge into this mud called politics in our white robes, yet standing out spotless. Because it is easy to advocate that we all move in, but what for? To continue the stealing, corruption and oppression? Shame unto our generation(the today’s youth) if we do not arise to be and make a difference so that the babies that are being born today and those to be in the future could have a future; because this generation is the ceiling of all decadence and rottenness, if we fail, God forbid, its going to be an eternal truth and genetical heritage that Nigerians are a wasted race, except God Almighty intervenes and turns the table around. I did not say anything is wrong with criticizing, commenting and agitating but what I’m saying is we cannot all go that route.

Our political parties are filled with those who are first of all party loyalists before being national loyalists if there exist any such thing as national loyalists in the annals of our today’s polity. If the PDP, ACN, ANPP and so on are same of the same, nothing we must know is wrong with the parties but the people in the parties and if we who think we are better off move in, one thing has to give way for the other and the stronger remains.

I believe that while criticizing those in leadership we should be constructive and morality demands also that we be what we preach, yet I am cautious or rather weary of a conscious or unconscious mode that those who caution those who criticize leadership constructively, should be careful how they do because they say; if the critiques get the opportunity too they will/might do worse. That the baby has come to wisdom to know between right and wrong, and that the baby after a protracted way of evil by its parents finally opens its mouth to say: mum, dad you are wrong doesn’t mean the baby should be shutdown or fed with entering that mode of fear or unnecessary cautiousness while everything falls altogether.

The bottom-line is, whoever is stepping in because agitations are growing that those inside should step out only for those stepping in to go do worse, should perish the thought of coming out with their life; this New Nigeria I foresee is too hot a Firebrand to be toiled with.
